Ian Hogbin
Ian grew up in Coffs Harbour and completed his Bachelor of Business Studies in Sydney in 1982. He returned to Coffs Harbour to work with HQB in 1985. Ian’s main areas of interest include management and financial accounting, taxation and business / systems management.He is also a registered Company Auditor and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.Ian has many years of small business experience and is an active participant in the local community. He is a past Councillor with the Coffs Harbour City Council. Ian and his wife Sue have 4 children who have all flown the coop. Ian is a keen sportsman and enjoys bike riding, as well as running and kayaking to maintain his health and sanity. -
Bill Herd
Bill has been with HQB since 1982, after starting his career with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in Sydney and later working overseas. He heads our strong audit team and is responsible for our large commercial and community based audits. He is experienced with court appointments and administration of government grants. When not auditing he has a large tax client base serving the community. He is a registered company auditor and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Away from work Bill is a keen fly-fisherman and enjoys most sports. He is married and has three adult children. -
Paul Chakos
Paul began his career in public practice with HQB in 1992 and became a partner in August 2006. He has an Associate Diploma in Accounting and is a member of the National Institute of Accountants. Paul's area of specialisation at HQB is Superannuation, where he provides the firm with a strong working knowledge of the entire superannuation landscape. He also deals directly with clients on a wide range of taxation and business matters, including the areas of capital gains tax, GST, companies, trusts and partnerships. Outside of work Paul likes being an active member of the community, having been a past President of the Sawtell & District Soccer Club, and enjoys following the various pursuits of his two sons. -
Greg Hardy
Greg has been a principal in private practice for over 30 years. He merged his practice with HQB in July 2007. He received his Accounting Diploma in 1972 from the NSW Institute of Technology (now University of Technology, Sydney). He is a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants. Greg is also a registered Company Auditor and qualified financial planner. Greg is married to Del, they have three children and two grandchildren. They have lived in Coffs Harbour all their lives. Away from the office Greg enjoys water sports and in particular fishing, and loves trekking in exotic locations.

Tony Brindley
Tony started with HQB at the beginning of 2005 and holds a Bachelor of Financial Administration. He is also a qualified CPA, has worked in international finance companies, run his own successful small businesses and more recently spent 4 years with the ATO educating businesses about GST. Tony is married to Lisa with 2 children. He is about as local as you can get with members of his family pioneering the area in 1880. -
Jacinda Scott
Jacinda has an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and has been a practising accountant in a public practice or the last 10 years. Jacinda and her husband have lived in Coffs Harbour for 12 years and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of living out of town on acreage.Outside of work Jacinda enjoys spending time with friends. -
Matt Fitzgerald
Matt has been working at HQB for nearly 5 years. He has both a Bachelor of Business degree and Bachelor of Science degree. He is currently studying the Chartered Accountants program and looks forward to its completion. Outside of work Matt is more than a bit of a geek, with interests in science and pop culture and enjoys keeping up with the latest trends in technology. -
Jason Bamford
Jason commenced working with HQB in 2005 whilst studying an Accounting/Information Technology double degree at Southern Cross University. He graduated in 2009 and has recently commenced the Chartered Accountants membership program.W hen not at work Jason enjoys firing up the BBQ, disturbing the peace with his guitar and tearing up the local creeks in his new fishing boat.

Peter Kent
Peter has over 40 years of accounting experience in both public practice and commercial business. He holds a Bachelor of Financial Administration and is a qualified CPA. Away from work Peter enjoys a variety of sports including golf, kayaking and bike riding.
