Over the last couple of months John Watson (of Fishburn Watson O’Brien) & I have been training intensely, riding up and down (ad nauseam) Bruxner and Ulong in preparation for the Australian edition of L’Etape. It’s a great cycling event held around the Snowy Mountains .
Alas the weather was unkind on the day, the fierce rain shortened the course by some 55kms and the ride to Perisher was removed. But despite the wringing-wet climate, we cycled on. Tackling some serious downhill sections on the wet roads, we were grateful there were no severe mishaps.
I completed the ride very wet and sodden, yet committed to return next year and take on the uphill finish to Perisher.
