HQB are proud community sponsors of the Bellingen Youth Orchestra – a fantastic not-for-profit organisation with a passion for educating youth in our area through music.

Bellingen Youth Orchestra (BYO) advances the musical education of young people in regional NSW by providing access to musical experiences, expert tuition, and the opportunity to play classical music in orchestral and ensemble settings. It supports over 100 players across three ensembles. BYO also encourage younger students to get involved by providing instruments and facilitating tuition programs for players attending local primary schools, secondary schools as well as home schooled students.

Like many other organisations, BYO was impacted by the pandemic, specifically in relation to wind players, but as they plan, they have set goals to provide pathways that rebuild this section of the orchestra.

If you wish to make a donation to BYO, your donation would be tax deductible as they are a ‘deductible gift recipient’. Your donation would support:

• Providing musical instruments for local primary schools and aspiring BYO players
• Facilitating musical experiences through quality workshops and visiting artists
• Maintaining a Player Bursary Fund to help players meet the costs of lessons and musical opportunities
• Making accessible quality instruments beyond the means of individuals such as timpani and cor anglaise
• Building youth mentoring programs – including our ‘Gappies Program!’
• Developing annual scholarships
