The accounting software ‘Xero’ is popular among our clients, and helpful information is emailed regularly from the Xero team. However, sometimes suspicious and potentially harmful emails are sent out from domains similar to the ones used by Xero. Although this is not common, it is important to be able to identify when emails are not from a Xero domain and may contain suspicious links or attachments that can be harmful when opened.
We would like to remind our clients that a genuine Xero email will always come from a xero.com domain or sub-domain address. The legitimate addresses include @xero.com, @post.xero.com, @send.xero.com, @sendnz.xero.com, @support.xero.com. If you receive an email from a similar address but it doesn’t appear to be any of the above, be suspicious. It is important to be aware that phishing emails attempt to impersonate these sending addresses, so they appear to come from a xero.com address but are actually sent from a different domain.
As a way to protect your personal information, do not click on any links or attachments in suspicious emails. If you would like to find out more about how to identify phishing and other malicious emails, and how to stay safe online, visit the Xero Security page.
