Ian will be participating in the C.ex Community Crew Sleep Out on Wednesday 28th June 2017.
In support of this worthy cause, he will be sleeping outdoors on a large cardboard box, with the option to bring only a sleeping bag or blanket and pillow.
To help understand the gravity of the situation, here are some heart-wrenching statistics:
- Every night 105,000 people in Australia don’t have a safe place to sleep or call home
- On any given night in Australia 1 in 200 people are homeless
- The number of homeless Australians is a rising issue, with the rate of homelessness increasing by 1.6% each year
- 17% of people experiencing homelessness are children
- In more than 30% of cases, homelessness is associated with domestic violence
By raising awareness and funds for local charities, we are working to improve these statistics, and reduce the number of homeless people and people at risk of homelessness living on the Coffs Coast.
