Earlier this year, the Australian Domain Administration released .au domain website addresses for purchase.
For those of you that currently have a website (ending in either .com.au or .net.au or .org.au) we suggest registering the matching .au domain. For example, at HQB we use hqb.com.au, but have registered hqb.au, simply so that no one else can take that domain.
Of course you may choose to continue using your original domain (e.g. website ending in .com.au) over the .au domain. Even so, from a security standpoint, registering the .au domain will help to protect your business online and avoid a similar domain being registered by someone else and potentially redirecting your website traffic.
To register a .au domain, we recommend using the same domain registration service as you previously used for your current web address. Alternatively, you can contact an IT specialist to assist with your registration.
